Art and culture of agave and its distillates explores the relationship of agave, raicilla and its other distillates with our region, art and culture and brings together the work of more than 20 national and international artists, to offer a contemporary vision of agave and historical and social phenomena.

Curator:
Rubén Ortiz Torres studied fine arts and graduated from the National School of Fine Arts, UNAM, Mexico City. In 1990 he obtained a Fulbright scholarship to study at the California Institute of the Arts, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA). He draws on a wide range of artistic practices, including photography, video, film, installation and painting. Ortiz Torres is considered one of the most important Mexican artists of today, and an innovator in the 80s and 90s of a specifically Mexican type of postmodernism. His work is part of the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles (MoCA), the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD), among many others, both public and private. .
